Speaker 0 00:00:09 Hello everybody. And come back to with grandma. Speaker 1 00:00:16 I am one of your hosts. My name is Chris, and I'm joined by my best friend, Emma. Hey everyone. Very many to clear anyways. So today's episode is all about playing really fun, exciting games. So we are super competitive. Emma and I, I think I'm more competitive. So we'll see how this game goes. Cause someone's feelings might be hurt at the end. Probably Emma's cause I'm a winner. If you say so <inaudible> granted. Have I ever won a word Scrabble game playing against you? No, I hate puzzles, Speaker 2 00:01:00 But you know what? The effort is there. The confidence is there and sometimes that's all you need to win. Speaker 1 00:01:06 One time I peeled in the Bananagrams. One time before we get started, we'll have our drink check in. So Emma, what are you drinking today? Speaker 2 00:01:17 I am drinking a decaf today. It is a peach ginger, and I think I've drank it before on the show. I need to get more tea, but I also don't like a lot of teas and my mom said I can't buy anymore until I drink all the ones that I already have. So Speaker 1 00:01:33 Until I get Speaker 2 00:01:33 Through all of these, y'all are going to be hearing the same thing over and over again. It's quite delightful. I like it. What are you drinking today, Chris? Speaker 1 00:01:40 Today I have a green tea from big ALO because I like to try the same tea in different brands because I feel like every brand has a little, they're a little flair or sometimes they don't have any flare and it's just gross, but we're going to see, I've never had big lows, green tea. I've had their Earl grey and their lemon ginger. But today I'm going to try a green tea, pretty calm, cool collected, because I've already had coffee this morning. So, but green tea also has caffeine in it. Okay. We don't need to talk about it. Speaker 2 00:02:16 Are you going to be able to sleep tonight? We'll see you stay tuned, stay tuned. We will post an update on the Instagram. Speaker 1 00:02:24 If you got any sleep tonight. So today we're playing our competitive word-based games. We were racking our brains, trying to figure out what kind of games we could play, because we've never done anything like this before. Like we always talk about stuff, but we never really get to like play games, do silly stuff. Um, so today's the more silly, casual laid back episode about playing more word games again. I've never actually won a word game playing against Emma, but we've only ever played Bananagrams. So we've never played Scrabble. I know you play. I don't actually understand the rules of Scrabble, but I know you've played it before Speaker 2 00:03:02 I am a Scrabble fiend also. I'm not actually not that good at these word games. When we were growing up every Sunday, we'd go over to my aunt's house and we'd have Sunday dinner. And then after dinner, after everything was like cleaned up and everything. My mom, my sister and my aunt would play Scrabble. It was always until my sister would win because my aunt was so good at it. So we'd always have to play until, Speaker 1 00:03:24 And it was like, and your mommy raised no quitter. So Sukkot was gonna play until she won. Yeah. So Speaker 2 00:03:28 Sometimes I meant like five, six games later and then they would let me play, but I would get bored really easily. So then my mom would have to hop in or they make me sit there and wait until I was just getting defeated and lost. Speaker 1 00:03:39 And also you were like definitely the youngest. So it's not like you were super competitive. So you were never going to win, Speaker 2 00:03:44 Which is also, I think why like playing these games now, it's like, I think maybe I'm a little bit better is because I've been playing it forever. Like Speaker 1 00:03:52 I'm trying to think of like what board games I'm good at and Speaker 2 00:03:55 Monopoly. How can you monopoly Speaker 1 00:03:57 Is not really a skill game. You're pretty good at Speaker 2 00:04:00 Katon. I was like strategy games. You're really good at, I think Speaker 1 00:04:04 I just can't spell. So you don't need Speaker 2 00:04:06 To be able to spell it to be a good war general, Speaker 1 00:04:09 Uh, spell it. I have a good vocabulary. That's the interesting thing. Speaker 2 00:04:12 Exactly. That's why I always thought you'd be really good at Bananagrams because you are so like you read a lot, you have a pretty big vocabulary. Speaker 1 00:04:20 I just like learning new words. That don't mean I can spot them. Well, see he all right. And then also AMA is going to practice using sound effects. Obviously we can't just have everyone sitting in silence for a minute. So, so everyone Speaker 2 00:04:35 Stayed tuned to either my own sound effects or the actual sound effects that we seen. Speaker 1 00:04:39 Hang on, try it out. You know, we really, we try new things here. That's also why this episode had to be kind of chill. Cause we go and try sound effects for the first time. So Speaker 2 00:04:47 It's trash, then you guys know why, at least we were doing it on a serious episode, Speaker 1 00:04:53 You know, trying to have a real conversation. And then it's like, oh, what, wait, why? Oh yeah. So we'll see what happens. You know? So we have two games today, right? Two games, two games. Which games do you wanna start with? First, your game? My game. Let's play Speaker 2 00:05:07 My game first because I think it'll help our brains warm up. Speaker 1 00:05:10 Okay. So I just need like a piece of paper, right? Yes. Speaker 2 00:05:14 So if you would like to play along with us first, you're gonna have a piece of paper and a pen. You're gonna write the letters a through Z and there's going to be a category. So I've come up with these categories already. Pretty basic ones. Um, haven't really given it much thought, I guess I could use like a random topic generator, but just for this practice, one, we're going to start easy. And so basically what you're going to do is you're going to be given a category and you have to name at least one thing per letter. Then at the end of the minute and a half, we're going to come back. And if we have the same answer, it gets crossed out. But if you have different answers, then you get a point for that. Does that make sense? It's basically Scott Aghori rules. If you've ever played Scattergories before our first category is food, food, Speaker 1 00:05:56 And I'm a real low by mourn and just kidding. That is not a food we should play at Texas cities around and then a California cities around. Oh my God. I would lose for both. You know, that might be the move. We'll see. Okay. Ready? What's the category again? Food, food. Let me just write that down. Could you imagine this? And I'm like writing down sports Speaker 2 00:06:16 Did not listen to the rules at all. Okay. And are men and a half is starting. Oh, double points. If you can come up with an alliteration, I brought them into that 10 seconds left timers. Go ahead. Also note to self don't play with Christopher because he hums while he's playing, which gets into your brain with 11 three, six, nine to I only came up with 10, so, okay. So at least I made good time. That's fine. Okay. A okay. I came up with avocado same Speaker 1 00:06:59 And I knew writing it. I was like, she's going to write avocado. Speaker 2 00:07:02 I thought you were gonna write apple, like a normal person. Speaker 1 00:07:05 So as a person who wrote avocado. Okay. Speaker 2 00:07:07 Because I was thinking you were going to write something else. Speaker 1 00:07:10 Okay. For B banana. I wrote blueberry. Yay. Carnet Assata. Good one. Wow. Dill, pickle. Ooh, good one. Okay. Nothing. I had nothing. I skipped it F I also had nothing really. I got French fries, which means I get double points because it's an alliteration. And also I was afraid you were going to put French fries. Honestly, I, Speaker 2 00:07:40 After you said, oh, maybe I should skip letters. I like decided to go to K for some reason. Speaker 1 00:07:46 Oh, okay. Do you have G Gobstoppers? Okay. They're candies, candy, whatever. No, I didn't. I skipped that letter. Horseradish hamburger. Glad I went out of the box on that one. I Iguanodon, I'm just kidding. I do not write an impossible burger. Does that knock out? Oh no. That's kind of a brand, but I'll let you take it Speaker 2 00:08:18 One at this point, Jay Speaker 1 00:08:20 Jackalope. I almost wrote jackfruit. Did you write that? Cause like you basically, oh wow. Speaker 2 00:08:26 I don't, again, like I was like, not thinking also you were humming. I think we need to come up with a rule that you can't say anything while we're playing. Speaker 1 00:08:33 I'm just going to mute myself. Just please put your, Speaker 2 00:08:35 Put yourself on mute and you can hump to yourself. K? No kids. Cat. Speaker 1 00:08:43 Oh, that's true. Yeah. I feel like you came up with a lot more candies and I came with a lot more fruit. Yeah. Let us, let us win this game. Nope. Speaker 2 00:08:56 Mango. I didn't come up with anything and they're not nectarine pancake pineapple or pineapple pancakes. You could have had two Speaker 1 00:09:12 Or you could have committed a crime against food cue. Nothing. I couldn't smell anything. R Q Shea, nothing. Speaker 2 00:09:24 Either squash steak. T V tomato. I had nothing w cross it off XYZ. No. Okay. I had 10 oh nine versus 10 good one. Okay. Okay. So I'm 10 on the first round, pick a number one, two or three, three towns like cities, Speaker 1 00:10:00 Towns, and cities. Anywhere in the world. You asked towns, Texas towns, California towns, New York city towns. Just kidding. New York city as a town. Speaker 2 00:10:09 Okay. Fine. United States, United States, cities. Speaker 1 00:10:12 You know, I just want it to be very clear. There's lots of options there. So United States, cities, minute and a half. Yeah. So that worked for you. Did you like that? Okay. Speaker 2 00:10:21 But please mute yourself. Speaker 1 00:10:23 Okay. Ready? And go. Did you come up with her? All of them? No, I didn't go that fast. I couldn't my brain or my hand couldn't keep up. And also I came up with a lot of doubles. It was annoying. Speaker 2 00:10:53 Ooh, wait. You mean like double letters? Speaker 1 00:10:56 Double letters. Like I was like, dang it. That I already came up with. Speaker 2 00:11:01 Okay. Hey, if you didn't put your hometown, don't be sad. Speaker 1 00:11:05 I was so I was like, what does she put Austin on purpose to like, oh, I did. Speaker 2 00:11:11 Cause I thought you were going to put Austin. So I decided I was going to put Amarillo. Oh, I should have Albany skipped it. Bakersfield. Chicago. Oh, good one. Charlotte. Dustin. Yeah. Okay. F French fries. I didn't come up to F Fort worth. G skipped, skipped, skipped Huntington beach. Speaker 1 00:11:49 I to put Houston, if I Speaker 2 00:11:51 Was surprised he didn't put Houston. Cause I why didn't put Houston. Cause I was like, he's gonna put Houston. Speaker 1 00:11:55 I ran at that time. That was going to be the last one. And then the timer went off. Okay. Speaker 2 00:11:59 I skipped Indianapolis, Speaker 1 00:12:03 Skipped Jacksonville, Kansas city. Speaker 2 00:12:07 I put couple of days. It's a city in Hawaii. You can look that one up. L Los Angeles is a city in Hawaii. Marietta, Georgia. Oh, I thought we were going to both put Miami and Philadelphia. Oh, Speaker 1 00:12:30 I skipped it. Went to Philadelphia. I didn't do an aura in new Orleans. Oh, Speaker 2 00:12:38 P I had Pearl city, which is where I was born. I didn't either are round rock, Texas. That's a double. I came up with the Richmond, Virginia. S T U V w. I had nothing. Salem and Tallahassee. Good. Okay. And then XYZ. Not a single thing. Frizzy I had right before you leave. I'll live in 15. Speaker 1 00:13:13 Better than I thought, but still not good. Speaker 2 00:13:16 Okay. So now you can pick one or two wine music, artists, music, artists, and go. We'll see. Okay. So you can start this time. Skipped a Adele. Good job. Speaker 1 00:13:56 B Brittany Spears. Speaker 2 00:13:59 Oh, I was gonna up that bunny. Cause I could get double, but then I thought you were going to put bad Speaker 1 00:14:02 Bunny. Nope. I put Brittany Spears. I put Beyonce. C Sierra. Ah, good one. You put who? Oh my God. Yes. Do my music. So loud. D destiny, child. He skipped Evanescence F fall out boy. Fifth harmony, G gorillas skipped H oh, I don't know who that is. The Korean pop star. I skip J skipped Jonas brothers. Katy Perry. I put corn out of the box. Okay. Lady Gaga, Madonna, Miley Cyrus. Madonna. I was like, take it back and Nickelback. Oh, I just got them for a point. Okay. Oh, skipped, skipped PSI. That was a good one. So I almost put paramour and then I was like, no panic at the disco. No PSI Q skipped skipped our right. Said Fred. I think he was a one hit wonder, but still counts. Skip tests. Sean Mendez and almost, oh, I should've put Sean Kingston. Yo T skipped the cranberries. Actually I skipped all the way down to what the does not make them tea. Speaker 2 00:15:47 Oh see. Cause I always put them with C and then I was like, he's going to be like, there's a love. Speaker 1 00:15:52 I feel like if you put them in a musical library, right? Like your phone, what letter would they fall under? Oh, the cranberries on mine are in the seas. So they are in the cause like alphabetically, like WIOA has never counted. Speaker 2 00:16:11 And that's why I was like, I was conflicted between putting it with the C or putting it with T 12. I came up with 12 to 12, two, two. Oh my gosh. So I think right now we're, if we count that first round, we are at a tie break where one, one, one movie title Speaker 1 00:16:29 Movies on your mark. Get set, go. Don't steal my answers. Um, Speaker 2 00:16:48 I like had just finished writing that last one. Speaker 1 00:16:51 Oh my gosh. Did I have to have it like all the way written? Cause the one that I came up with last had like the titles really, really long. Speaker 2 00:16:58 No, I think as long as you have it written. Speaker 1 00:17:01 Okay, ready? I really feel like you stole my a but there's a 50, 50 chance I put avatar. Speaker 2 00:17:06 Oh no. I put Aquaman. I thought you were going to put Avengers black Panther. The movie. We should've just done superhero movies. That would have been a good, Speaker 1 00:17:17 That was what I went with. Cause I was like, it was just easy to come up. Like a sub theme. Otherwise it would have been too many. See captain America cats. Speaker 2 00:17:27 Nope. Drum line E four brothers Godzilla. Sorry. I got that. Wow. You're the worst Speaker 1 00:17:37 Habit. The habit. Speaker 2 00:17:43 Incredible hope. Jay did not justice league. Speaker 1 00:17:50 Also a terrible movie Speaker 2 00:17:52 Did not the Lord of the rings land before time. Cute Moulin Rouge. Okay. Okay. Skipped, skipped, skipped the opera. Skipped rogue one star wars, Titanic Tigger movie. Speaker 1 00:18:19 I tell you if you were going to still Titanic, I was going to fight you Speaker 2 00:18:24 Skipped VW, XYZ Speaker 1 00:18:26 Valerian and the city of a thousand planets and water for elephants. Speaker 2 00:18:31 Oh my gosh. I forgot about that movie. Okay. I didn't have anything for VW X, but for Y put you've got mail. Speaker 1 00:18:37 What? A cute little movie. Nope. Speaker 2 00:18:41 For all the marbles. 2014. Wow. Chicken dinner was myself. So first game, Emma, second game. We're now going to play is Chris is going to explain it. Speaker 1 00:18:55 Well, if the prize was chicken dinner, of course I was going to lose. Our second game is like, it's like you get a word or phrase and then you have to make as many words from that that are not in the phrase as possible. So for example, if the phrase was Titanic, one of your words can not be low or Titanic. Right? How do you feel about this so far? Speaker 2 00:19:20 I think I understand the rules more or less. Speaker 1 00:19:22 So it is based on my favorite store. So slogan, something like that. HEB here. Everything's better. So I'll give you a second to write down that on your paper here. Everything's Speaker 2 00:19:36 Better. Everything is better or everything's Speaker 1 00:19:39 Everything's better minute and a half. I got it. Same time. Speaker 2 00:19:45 Ready? Begin then. That's actually not as easy as you think it is, or at least as easy as I thought it was going to be. Speaker 1 00:20:09 I just feel like we're going to eliminate a lot of each other's ideas. Speaker 2 00:20:12 So do I go first or do you go first? Either way you can go first. Cause it's your game. Okay. He knows her. Yes. The thing things. Yes. Every ever no tire, no tires. Try tries this bet that best. Nope. Nope. His hers, no bite. No bites. No. Nope. Bits. No. Wow. Speaker 1 00:21:08 Okay. What words are left on your list? Speaker 2 00:21:12 Beat their guests. Vet rye like rye bread. Greet beer tree. Yay. As in Y E is a Bible word gin Ben rent, green hinge hinges binge. Speaker 1 00:21:29 My final count is 1916. I feel like simplicity rules and again like this. Speaker 2 00:21:38 Oh yeah, for sure. Like it's it's like did not even Speaker 1 00:21:41 Boom is like it just Speaker 2 00:21:44 Boom. I think I was overthinking it. Okay. Speaker 1 00:21:48 Hinges binge. Speaker 2 00:21:50 Like what was I doing? I was confused. Speaker 1 00:21:52 Okay. So the phrase this time is teacher Speaker 2 00:21:56 Of the year. Which Christopher is? Whew. Well, whenever you're ready. Okay. Speaker 1 00:22:05 Let me get the timer going. Time starts. No struggle on this one. I think it was not having that S yeah, Speaker 2 00:22:29 But really all of my words like started with F Speaker 1 00:22:33 Uh, I was, uh, Dennis, I don't even know the S and you just don't get the auto plurals, Speaker 2 00:22:40 Which is maybe better. I don't know. Okay. Are we ready? Yes, I got T Nope. Nope, Nope. Nope. Tor teach shear. Yep, sure. Nope. She Speaker 1 00:23:08 Almost didn't notice about cheap heat. Speaker 2 00:23:12 Nope. Hat. Nope. Oh, wait, no, you didn't have heat, right? I did Speaker 1 00:23:17 Not have heat fat. Speaker 2 00:23:21 Nope, Nope, Nope, Speaker 1 00:23:25 No hot. Sorry. Hot. Do you also have hat? Yes. I have had hot, hot, hot, hot. Now your turn. Speaker 2 00:23:34 I had her feet, feet, heart, eight feet as, and that was a great feat. And then also feet. As in, I got two feet fear, fart, fair, free fee reef, Ray rate free. What'd you have 13. Oh 90. Those, those ads. I thought you were going to take it Speaker 1 00:24:07 With that. I just, I was not, I don't know what was happening. Okay. I do have the last one Speaker 2 00:24:14 Though. Okay. Last round. The tea with crema Speaker 1 00:24:21 Names. Do not count. Oh my God. This is going to be interesting. Speaker 2 00:24:24 I was like, yeah, like I'm Speaker 1 00:24:26 Lost. This is some letters here. These are not even good letters. It's repeating. Oh my God. Okay. Well, good luck, Ella. Ready? And again? Dang. Wow. Okay. Ready? Yes. Heat. Speaker 2 00:24:57 Yes. Dang hat, hat to know her. Yes. Meat. Yes. Both meats. Nope. Just the one that you eat. Okay. So I still got one of those met. Nope. Mat hat, no eat ate here, there at mirror. A team. Yes. Speaker 1 00:25:29 I think I wrote here twice. I don't know why. Okay. What do you Speaker 2 00:25:32 Mean the here? Like you listen and hear as an I'm here. Speaker 1 00:25:36 No, I think I'm at hair as in a, um, you know, my handwriting, my handwriting gets bad after a while. No, I put here twice. I don't know why it is what it is. That's what I got. That's my list. Okay. Speaker 2 00:25:52 I had theme theme theme, like, Speaker 1 00:25:56 Wow. The theme of the bridal shower is Speaker 2 00:26:01 What them are. Wheat saw it. Rat Mar Mark Mayer, hair, heart heater, water rate ramp. Speaker 1 00:26:16 I only got seven 20. Wow. I hope it's really strong. And then just like fizzled the whole rest of the game. Speaker 2 00:26:26 And that's usually how our game nights go. Chris usually wins the first couple of rounds. And then I come in. It's not about how you start guys. It's how you finish. And before we end, we are going to end it off with our usual, with our rapid Speaker 1 00:26:39 Fire questions. That's pretty close to instinct that one. I don't think so, but that's okay. Okay. Do you ever laugh at things that you shouldn't say? Give me an example. Speaker 2 00:26:54 Just inappropriately. And it's because my coping mechanism is to laugh at things. So like Speaker 1 00:27:01 You have a nervous laugh. It's not even a nervous laugh. Speaker 2 00:27:06 And the thing that like makes me so upset is because Isaac also laughs inappropriately. And so like, we'll be, we'll be like having a disagreement and he'll start laughing. But it's more cause he's nervous now because he's like laughing at me, but I take it like, oh, you're making fun of him. Um, I laugh in really uncomfortable situations. That's when I laugh. So it's not, yeah. Speaker 1 00:27:31 Oh my goodness. I just laugh at jokes that I know I shouldn't have you laughing at, but like, I don't know, humorous bunny. I can't help it. I feel bad afterwards. Your trauma is funny. You don't know what I've been through Speaker 2 00:27:46 My rapid fire question and I'm stealing it from Isaac. So if you could be the leader of a cult, what cult would it be? Q Speaker 1 00:27:54 Anon. Ooh. Is that a cult? Speaker 2 00:27:57 Some may say it is some may say that it's a political ideology. Speaker 1 00:28:01 You know, I was just wanting to be the leader to see what's going on. Is it real? Is it fake? Is it really just one man in a basement? Like, you know, I just want to know it's Speaker 2 00:28:09 A really Beyonce, like I just need to know. Speaker 1 00:28:12 You never know what about you? Speaker 2 00:28:15 Um, my coat would be something that would be revolving around the end of the world and French fries. Like we're stockpiling all the French fries. And that is my cult. That is what we're going to survive off of because we can hunt for meat, but potatoes will not always be around. Speaker 1 00:28:33 I don't think you know how farming works. Speaker 2 00:28:36 I don't think I do either. So I just need to be prepared was like of the two things Speaker 1 00:28:40 You were like, yeah, meat will be here, but potatoes man. They got to go. Like I don't, they might not come with us. You know, it's a terrible disease and it just takes out humans and potatoes. Those are the two things Speaker 2 00:28:54 Specifically the ones that make French fries. So that was our show today. Everyone Speaker 0 00:29:00 Ammo, where can people find the podcast?
